Rare earth element recycling company Cyclic Materials has opened its first commercial-scale rare earth magnet recycling facility in Mesa, Arizona. The plant produces rare earth magnet materials, as well as materials such as copper, aluminum, and steel, the company said on Wednesday. The site has the capacity to process up to 25,000 mt/year of magnetic material scrap. To date, the company has received more than 7,000 mt of raw materials for processing at the facility.
Cyclic expects to send its first shipment to clients later this month. The company said last April that it had invested more than USD 20 million to establish a recycling facility in Arizona, aimed at extracting permanent magnets from retired parts. The company is also developing another recycling facility in McBee, South Carolina.
